About MAA Encoder
MAA Encoder is a small suite of tools built for video hoarders, streamers, and home server users who need more control over their media libraries. The flagship app, MAA Batch Video Encoder, focuses on re-encoding, compressing, and cleaning up large collections for Plex, Jellyfin, and Emby.
Developed by Austin Shires, the tools combine advanced batch processing logic with simple, focused graphical interfaces. They use a mix of FFmpeg, YT-DLP and AI Models under the hood, while keeping the day-to-day workflows approachable for both casual and power users.

The Tools in the MAA Encoder Suite
- MAA Batch Video Encoder – Batch-convert, compress, and clean entire video libraries with presets, GPU support, and smart skip rules.
- MAA Video Downloader – Use yt-dlp through a clean GUI to queue, download, and monitor multiple videos without browser extensions.
- MAA Subtitle Creator – Create clean subtitles with AI to improve accessibility and compatibility across players and devices.
- MAA Video Embed Extractor – Extract embedded audio, subtitles, cover art, and attachments from video files, and optionally create “clean” copies without the extras you feel that you don't need.
What It Is For

- 💬 Creating clean subtitle files for foreign films with hard to find subs.
- 🧹 Removing or extracting embedded extras like fonts, covers, and attachments
- 🎛️ Automating repetitive media tasks with smart presets and queues
Closed Source – Why?
The MAA Encoder tools are free to use but closed-source to protect the time and care invested in their development. The goal is to keep access open and ad-free while still respecting the countless hours spent building, testing, and maintaining the apps.
